Ellie May's Story...
Ellie May's Story...
My name is Ellie May! I am very smart, sweet, attentive, active & playful. I was rescued from a high kill shelter. All of my babies were adopted and now it's my turn for a great life of my own. I think I'm about 6-8years old, a female Pit/Hound/?? mix. You guess my breed and you win me ! I have been waiting a long time for my forever home. I am fine with other dogs and love kids &adults too. I am very playful, and love to be held and cuddled. I'd really like to be a lap puppy. I am a very sweet, affectionate girl, who loves attention. I enjoy running, playing with a tennis ball, and afterwards likes to just lay around and rest. I'm doing great with my leash training, and I'm smart and anxious to learn new tricks. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to meet her.
Blue Ridge Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-euthanizing rescue based in Charlottesville, VA. We provide a safe haven for our homeless pets while they are awaiting a permanent home. They are mostly young adults, but occassionally we'll have a senior that needs a retirement home! They are saved from high-kill shelters/pounds or from owner give-up situations. While in our care, they receive a health checkup, spay or neuter, all shots, de-worming and heartworm/tick disease testing. Please check our Pets List, and contact us for a personal meeting. If you don't see exactly what you are looking for, please email us and we'll help you find that perfect pet. If you can't adopt at this time, please consider volunteering with us or sponsoring an animal.
Please note: We are busy folks and don't have "regular business hours". For this reason, we don't show the dogs until an application has been submitted. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt a dog, but it does tell us that your interest in adopting an animal is serious. We thank you for being considerate of our time and efforts.
We do rescue cats/kittens when the need arises, but this is not our primary function. Please contact the regular Cat Rescue groups in your area for help.
Come Meet Our Pets...
We do conduct local adoption outings. We also show our dogs by appointment. We are in need of foster homes for our dogs, and accept any volunteer help. If you may be interested in providing temporary shelter and love to an animal in need, please contact us at BlueRidgeDogResq@aol.com
Our Adoption Process...
We conduct personal interviews and require adoption applications. Home visits are conducted, and references are checked. Adoption fees are $125 for dogs, and $75 for cats. All fees are used to defray the costs of vetting and caring for our animals.
