My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 2-1-2010: Jet's foster reports that she is doing well and is very willing to please! She is quickly learning the rules of her new household and responds well to come (or a whistle), sit and paw, no and leave it, down, and is working on stay. Jet is also learning to sit patiently for her food or water.

Jet met some children, her foster mom reports, and she "lit up like a Christmas tree!" and loves the four year old in the house, though she had to be redirected no to lean against him too hard! Jet also rides very well in a car. She is good on her leash, and her foster mom is working with her so that she will heel.

Jet's foster family is introducing her to the crate, and so far they have discovered that as long as there is someone in the room with her, she does not protest. However, if she is left alone in a room in the crate, she does not like that.

Jet is somewhat territorial, but it appears that this is only when there is a gate blocking her from the other dog, or when she is in her crate. Jet's foster mom reports that feedings are going well, with Jet and her foster dog brother being fed in separate areas at the present time, as is to be expected when bringing any new dog into the house. Jet readily welcomes her new canine pal into her feeding area after she has finished eating, when they then play and have a great time!

Jet's foster mom reports that Jet is "a happy sweet girl" who is "great with the whole family!"

Jan 2010~ Jet is a happy-go-lucky one year old Labrador Retriever mix. Jet has a shiny black coat, long and floppy ears and warm brown eyes. She is a big girl at 77 lbs.

Jet is at the shelter because her owner cannot afford her anymore. She lived on a farm and went all over the property with her owner and never tried to run away. She is not completely housebroken, but will go when we take her outside. Jet is a great walking companion and really shines in the shelter yard. She is a great ball player and loves toys and chew bones.

Jet is very affectionate and loves to be petted and cuddled. Jet has a hard time staying home alone for a long time but has never really had a chance to bond with a family and experience crate-training and having someone come home to her consistently. She has an eager-to-please demeanor that should make her easy to train. She loves everyone, but might be too much for very small children due to her energy and enthusiasm! Jet also enjoys other dogs and would love to have a young canine companion to play with in her new home. She is probably a bit too energetic for feline buddies.

Jet will be a fantastic, loyal dog for the right family. She should be able to come north soon into a loving indoor foster home. Please contact us today for an application.
