My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

INITIAL BIO 01/29/10: MEET SAMMIE.......Sammie is the newest little foster dog in Florida; he is 2 years old and currently weighs 4.25# but is very underweight. Sammie was surrendered by his owner who was unable to continue to care for him; Sammie is a sick little boy right now - it is believed that he has Liver Shunt, which sadly is a condition that the yorkshire terrier breed is prone to having, and is usually an inherited condition. Without having special testing to know which kind of shunt Sammie may have, he may or may not require surgery to save his life. Sammie also has ascites, which is hydropic swelling of the abdomen and he needs to see a specialist as soon as possible. He is very listless and sleeps a lot, and came with a history of seizures, vomiting and poor weight gain, which are common clinical signs of portosystemic shunts. Sammie will have testing done on Monday and will be seeing a specialist on Tuesday to determine the type of shunt he has.....currently he is a very sick little yorkie boy who needs a lot of prayers said on his behalf. Please watch for updates on Sammie after his testing next week..........if you would like to donate to his veterinary costs, every dollar will be appreciated - if Sammie needs surgery to save his life, his veterinary bills could exceed $3,000! Little Sammie would like a chance at a happy life and a chance to play like most puppies do, and also a chance at a wonderful home where he is a cherished member of the family. Can you please help little Sammie with prayers and your donations? Thank you so much!
