My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

3-8-10: Courtney's foster mom gave us an update on Courtney, and says that Courtney is now 100% housetrained and goes to the door when she has to go outside!

Courtney gets along well with other dogs. However, puppies tend to make her a little nervous and she does not appreciate their exuberance! She would do best with dogs who can read her cues that she has had enough playtime and it's time to do their own thing. Puppies can be quite persistent and some dogs take to this better than others!

Courtney LOVES to run! An ideal home with have a fenced in yard or nearby park where she could play and run to her heart's content. She tends to get her energy out while outside, and is well behaved and calm in the house and has not exhibited any destructive behaviors.

She will chase the ball although she plays "keep away" better than fetch! She does have the typical border collie nip at the heels style of chasing people. She will responds really well to reprimanding if she gets too rough. She has been gentle with the kids she has encountered.

2-24-10: Courtney's foster mom reports that this sweet girl is a great dog! She knows "sit" and "down" and she is not a jumper. Courtney has proven to be very polite with small children. The foster family has a chinchilla and they interact in the same room without any problems, so most likely Courtney would be fine wtih a cat. Courtney likes to have her "people" nearby and does not wander off. She has been socialized with dogs of all sizes and genders and has done wonderfully. She LOVES to play and will sometimes play rough, but will back right down if the other dog lets her know they have had enough.

Although Courtney protests for a few minutes in her crate at night, she settles right down quickly for the night. Her foster family is working on her potty training and she has made lots of progress in the short time they have had her. She is a dog that just wants to please and she is easily corrected with a raised voice.

2-21-10 Courtney has arrived in Maine! She is a beautiful sweet girl who can be a little shy at first. She is a great medium size and would love to find her forever home!

12/25/09 - Meet beautiful Courtney! She is around a year old. She was dumped at a southern shelter, yet she still loves people even after they let her down. She loves kids and other dogs, and just wants to play. Courtney needs a foster home so we can bring her north to safety. She is a great medium size at about 45 lbs.

All our dogs are in partner rescues or shelters in the south unless otherwise indicated.
