Newton's Story...
Newton is a 3 yr old apricot male Poodle/Bedlington Terrier mix. When he was rescued, he was filthy, matted and covered with feces and we had to shave him completely. His fur is growing in now and we think he is quite handsome. Newton is very nervous around new people but once he gets to know you he is very loving. He had been adopted out to a family but has since been returned since they did not understand his issues with people and did not exercise proper control over his behavior. Newton must be introduced carefully to all strangers and caution must be taken on walks. Under no circumstances can Newton be on an extendable leash; he must be on a short leash for all walks so he can be close to his guardian. Newton’s contract will state that he must go to an obedience class upon adoption. He’s okay with most other dogs and seems okay with cats. Newton should be in an adult only home

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in West Los Angeles already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a West Los Angeles breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Poodle (Miniature) breeders who help with Poodle (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in West Los Angeles paves the way for another one to be saved.
