Facts about Big Moe

  • Breed: Boxer Mix
  • Color: Black - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
This is Big Moe. He was rescued right around Christmas of 2009 from a front yard in East Dallas. He was trying to make a bed out of newspapers but a fellow rescuer took him in overnight. Then, because she does special-needs cat rescue, Moe was taken to the vet for his checkup and then boarded overnight and then passed on to us to foster until we can find another foster home or his Forever Home.

He enjoys being sprayed with the water hose. He just lays down and flops on his back and rolls and slides until he's cool enough then gets up. He loves his cookies too.

Moe can be quite a handful! He needs someone with a lot of patience and time to work with him. He also needs an experienced dog owner who can be firm but not unkind. Moe has too much of an interest in cats so we recommend a home without felines.

About Before the Bridge

About Our Rescue Group...

Before the Bridge is comprised of 3 die hard rescuers. We are a new group, formed in September of 2008, but our rescue experience spans many years. Dogs and cats are now housed at a new location in Caddo Mills. Dogs are routinely transported to local adoption events for the public to see. Folks may also take a look at our Adoption Book to look for their new friend and companion. We also have pets listed on a fellow rescuers site. We accept any breed but have specialized in Pit Bull rescue. Because we are small, our space is limited as well as our finances. Donations of money, food, or supplies are always very welcome. We do not euthanize to make room for another animal so when we are full, we must say no to taking in a new rescue.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our pets are shown at Adoption events only. We cannot arrange for you to visit our homes or show dogs on any days other than Saturday or Sunday.

Regular adoption events are held each Saturday at various Petsmarts in the area in conjunction with the Straydog Inc group out of Gun Barrel City. We are there from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please come by and see us!

Special events are announced as they become available.

Thank you for your understanding.

Our Adoption Process...

When a potential adopter identifies a dog or cat in which they are interested, they contact Before the Bridge to request an application. Once the application is received and approved, a home visit is set up during which we bring the chosen pet to the adopter's home to meet and greet with all the occupants both human and animal. If the home visit goes smoothly, the adopter will sign a contract and pay a $200 donation fee ($100 for cats). We then leave the pet in their new Forever Home and do a followup phone call in a week or so to see how things are going.

*Please note: Although the City of Garland Shelter is making great strides in the right direction in their treatment of Pit Bulls, they still have a long way to go. Therefore, Before the Bridge does not adopt Pit Bulls to residents in Garland. We regret this inconvenience and will continue to monitor changes in that City.
