My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sparky is a young shepherd mix who is happy, loving, and sweet tempered. He's always happy to meet new people and adapts easily to new situations. Oddly for a shepherd mix, Sparky has a docked tail, so he shows his happiness with a wildly wiggling nub. Very cute! He has a great time at our Adopt a Pet days, meeting other dogs, getting lots of pets and doesn't even mind when the trip includes a bath. Sparky's wonderful temperament is amazing, considering the awful treatment he has had. An animal control officer found him at a home where she had been sent to investigate a report of animal cruelty. The report was actually made on behalf of another dog, but while she was there, she found Sparky, who was living under an old car, tied to the chassis by a chain. He was covered in oil and grease and, most horrible of all, his collar had become so tight and embedded in his neck that the flesh had actually started to rot. Despite his sorry, stinky state, he still had a happy camper attitude, and when she let him off his chain, her gave her some grateful kisses, then began to play up a storm with the other dog. You just can't keep this puppy down!

Today Sparky is a handsome, goofy playful boy living the life of a happy house dog. His neck required some difficult surgery, but he's healing quickly and as soon as his fur grows back, no one will be able to tell anything was ever wrong. For now, he wears a tasteful scarf around his neck.tay tuned for pictures of this great boy!
