Mokie's Story...
Hello new friends!

My name is Mokie, and I'm about 5 years old. I'm a sturdy little guy of about 18 pounds looking for a best friend who will give me a forever home.

I'm the kind of easy-going guy who fits in anywhere. I love people. I love kids. I love other dogs. And you know what? I even like cats a lot! I try to get them to play (even though they don't always take me up on it). My Mom describes me as "laid back". In any kind of social setting, you can count on me to be your party guy! I also love to play. If you get down on the floor with me, it just makes me so happy all over! I wiggle and smile, and run around or go get my ball. It's great! One of my other favorite things to do is ride in the car. I'm an ideal passenger, quiet and well-behaved. I also like to go on walks. I'm "re-learning" my house-training, and Mom says I will let her know now when I need to go outside, even though I still wear a belly band in the house, just in case.

Now, don't laugh at this part, okay? But I have this one toy that is very special to me. It's my baby doggie. I carry it all over with me, nibble on it gently, and take it to sleep with me. Some people might not think an outgoing guy like me would need a security blanket, but sometimes a guy needs his stuffed toy to feel extra secure, you know? It makes my Mom smile when she sees me, and go "Oh what a doll!"

Not to brag, but Mom says that I'm also very smart, and am learning what it means when she tells me not to do something. I learned right away how to sleep in my crate, and would go in by myself when it was bedtime. (But Mom loves me so much that she lets me sleep in the big bed, now, which is extra nice!) You know what else? I can "talk"! Yep, I will make these little talking noises to show how much I love you. Or sometimes I will let you know if I hear an unusual noise outside. I'm very protective of my family.

My Mom has all these nice things to say about me. Gee, it almost kind of embarrasses me! She says I am a "big love" and "loyal" and "handsome" and a "perfect baby". She also says, "I love Mokie… his personality is so loving and so sweet and gentle…he is an ANGEL!!! ... Anyone who can truly appreciate him for who he is will reap the rewards of a truly loyal loving friend for life." Aw, shucks. Anyway, if this sounds good to you, fill out an application and ask for me, Mokie.

Gentle kisses from,

Merry and Marvelous Mokie

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mokie, a La Costa Bichon Frise dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bichon Frise for sale in La Costa, or seeking a Bichon Frise dog from a breeder in La Costa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in La Costa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a La Costa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bichon Frise breeders who help with Bichon Frise rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in La Costa paves the way for another one to be saved.
