Here's what the humans have to say about me:
“General Patton” is named after General Patton because I figure Patton was a great American Bulldog and so is MY General Patton!
Patton appears to be pure Bulldog – he is totally gorgeous with a huge head and very strong front legs. He is gentle as a lamb and great with other dogs, and he genuinely loves children.
At the moment, Patton is sort of a special case: It seems that about a year ago, he was hit by a car and broke his spine. His x-rays show that his injury is healing great, but he is still weak on his back legs. The cool thing, though, is that Patton can walk and even run; he can climb stairs and hills; and he gets around the house just fine. My vet says he will NOT get any worse, and will only get stronger with good exercise (maybe swimming!) and long daily walks. His back legs are week, but getting better, and his knees are scraped, but healing well. At the moment, I guess we can call him a "special needs" doggie, but again, he is only going to get better and better.
Patton is 2 to 3 years old. American Bulldogs can live up to 15 or 16 years, so he is still considered a young pup and will get healthier as time passes.
Patton will do okay in an apartment if he is sufficiently exercised. He is actually a couch potato when he isn’t exercising, and he’s content to sleep all day or watch you work while he relaxes!
He loves the car, is house broken, comes when he is called and at some time in his life, must have been very well cared for and loved. Now Patton deserves that same “perfect home” again.
