Popeye's Story...
My name is Popeye and I yam what I yam - hee hee - I couldn't resist!!

I'm 13 weeks old (2/18/2010) and am a sweet and loyal boy. My foster Mom calls me a charmer - I sit at her feet while she works in the kitchen and look up at her with my big brown eyes!

I'm crate trained and leash trained - and am working on housetraining. I will "Sit" pretty readily on command, too!

I like playing with all kinds of toys - I don't think I've met a toy that I didn't like! I also like chewing on bones, Kongs, and rawhides, too - oh, and I like riding in the car. But my favorite thing in the whole world is being held - I absolutely LOVE it!

I really like other dogs but haven't met the cats yet. I won't be adopted out to a family with children under the age of 8 years old because of my energy level and puppy behavior. Children younger than that age typically do not understand how to direct my puppy behavior and may think I'm trying to hurt them when all I'm doing is being a puppy!

I've been neutered, dewormed, microchipped, am up to date with age-appropriate vaccinations and am on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Popeye, a Wake Forest Boxer puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Wake Forest, or seeking a Boxer puppy from a breeder in Wake Forest.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wake Forest already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wake Forest breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wake Forest paves the way for another one to be saved.
