Hello everyone! As you've heard, my name is Pickett. Ok, so when I arrived at rescue, I had seperation anxiety and couldn't stand to be away from my foster mom for a second...but hey, you would too. I have been passed around and have tried to be the perfect Beagle, but I guess I just was never good enough for anyone to want to keep forever. I don't know what else to do to show how much I can love you! I am sweet, gentle, quiet (for a Beagle that's pretty amazing!), housebroken, love walks. Mainly, I am looking for a family or even just a mom or dad or even one parent to hold me, love me, and let me claim them as my new family. I am good for at least 4 hours by myself without getting nervous...and I will continue to get better and better....I promise. I am very young for my years and everyone who meets me on the streets, at parks, at the vet's office, is very impressed with my manners. I just wish one of YOU would come forward and give me a chance to show you how loving I can be and complete your life. Isn't there just one of you out there who wants to even meet me? Pretty please? Oh well, if you don't, that's OK, I'll understand. I'll just keep waiting for you. Hey, maybe Santa will bring me a new owner! Hmmmm....better get busy writing to him! Love, PICKETT
***UPDATE 8.13.05***
Pickett is being trained to be the confident, secure Beagle we know he is under his fear of being left alone. We have a wonderful foster mom, Marney, who is working with Pickett daily and diligently to uncover for all to see what a special and sweet Beagle Pickett is. We are looking for someone who can take Pickett under their wing and provide the love and care he deserves. Stay tuned for more updates as Pickett works at being the Beagle you want to take home!
Pickett is an 8 years "young" neutered male Beagle who has lived with one owner his whole life. But now things are changing rapidly for his owner and Pickett is being left alone too much. Enough so the neighbors complain of his barking when left outside! But then, being alone for over seven hours a day is not a good thing for any dog, let alone a Beagle!
Pickett did have a canine companion during the day but this changed recently and it is just his owner, working two jobs each day, and Pickett. And he does not like this at all. Everyone has deserted him! So, we are looking for a family with someone home all day as Pickett suffers from separation anxiety and can't be left alone. This is a common occurrence in Beagles and it is workable with a Beagle-smart family.
Pickett is a very gentle boy, does well with older children, loves other dogs his size, gives cats a wide berth when they are in the same room, is UTD with shots, is not overweight as most Beagles tend to be. In fact, due to the stress of being kept in the garage when no one is home, Pickett is LOSING weight due to not eating or drinking until his owner comes home!
Please, if you can provide a safe harbor for Pickett, a SECURELY FENCED YARD, either human or canine companionship all day for Pickett, please visit our web site at www.cascadebrescue.org and download our adoption forms (click on the icon to the left) and email, fax them toll free or snail mail them to us. We do require a home check to make sure your home is Beagle proof!
This Beagle's adoption fee is $150.00
