My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carter: A Dog with a Purpose

Hi! My name is Carter--at least that is what they have called me since the Humane Society rescued me from life as a stray. Here is my story and what I think I bring to a family.

I have a zest for life. I like to get up into my foster dad's recliner and rest on his stomach, his legs, or whatever part lets me feel his warmth. We share a smile, and I wink at him to show him I feel safe and loved.

I have energy, but I do know how to relax and become part of a family. I adjusted so quickly to my foster home that my four foster siblings welcomed me with open paws, and we share bones and toys. I never fight for things, and I am not aggressive. I work at being obedient and respectful.

I am totally housetrained and have never messed in the house. I've never even been crated because I'm so good in the house, with or without people at home.

I wake my foster dad with the rising sun and greet him with a nudging of my warm nose accompanied by a small whine to say, "I'm hungry!" On the way outside and then downstairs to eat, I turn in to the springiest Springer you ever did see!

I enjoy the fresh air of the yard, and I love to watch the birds and squirrels scurry across the neighbor's yard.

I will promise you this: I am a lifelong learner, friend, and trusted snuggle partner. I want to be the next addition to a Forever Home, if not as the spotlight, then as a light in the morning to get you going for a walk. I love the dog park and am a happy leashed walker. I know I can adjust quickly and make your house my home.

Love,
Carter

From Carter's foster parents: We fell for Carter fast and hard. It's true what he says about adjusting quickly. We've never trusted a dog so soon after meeting him. He's a natural with kids. Carter is a very, very special dog. We're looking for his very special match! Carter is scheduled to be neutered within the next week, so he will be all ready for adoption soon.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Carter.
