Harry & Freddy's Story...
Harry and Freddy are a pair of 11-month-old, fawn and black gerbils looking for a new loving home. These gerbils were purchased as a gift for a family with four children and two dogs. Unfortunately the kids soon tired of their new pets so they’ve come to live with me temporarily. These adorable Mongolian gerbils are really fun pets. They are wiggly, so a bit hard to handle, but they are very entertaining to watch - especially when they jump on their exercise wheel at the same time. Harry and Freddy are easy to care for and come complete with everything you need to care for them - their cage, food, bedding, and treats. Their adoption fee of $20 for the gerbils and all their supplies benefits rescued pets. To meet and possibly adopt Harry and Freddy, please contact sheri@petraits.com or 312-961-4571

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harry & Freddy, a Chicago Gerbil was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Gerbil for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Gerbil from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Gerbil breeders who help with Gerbil rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
