Belle's Story...
Belle has been retired from use as a "training dog" for biomedical research. Having spent her life in a laboratory, she can still be pretty overwhelmed by everything in the real world! She is generally very quiet and docile. She does love curling up on the couch with you, though! She craves attention from people, and will need a very patient adopter to help her work through her insecurities. She loves to be outside in the warm sun, so a fenced in yard is what we want for Belle. :) This way she can do so and still feel protected inside the yard! Right now, we would need someone who is home a good portion of the day to continue to help Belle get comfortable with the world. Although Belle is fine with children, we feel a household with young children and a lot of activity will NOT be a good one for her. She is cratetrained and continues to work on her housetraining! Are you willing to help a dog who may need a little extra time and patience?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Belle, a Portland Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Portland, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
