Coconut's Story...

AARF only adopts in Richmond, Virginia and the surrounding area.

Hi there, my name is Coconut and I’m a Jack Russell mix. I’m approximately 15-16 years old, but everyone says I don't look a day over 7. I was rescued after 12-13 years living outside on a chain, but I’m a happy dog with a great spirit. I love fluffy dog beds, going on walks, belly rubs and snuggling up with my foster mommy and daddy. I get along with kids and other dogs, but sometimes am a bit too curious for the cats and they run away. My best feature, besides my personality they tell me, are my ears. One ear sticks up and one flops down, how cute is that?

I am now loving life in my indoor home with room to run around. I’ve had two vet exams and have been labeled a healthy dog except for some teeth issues, which I’ll be getting a teeth cleaning and a couple of extractions soon. Won’t you please consider adopting an older dog? I have a lot of love and energy still left to share!

For more information about me or to schedule a time to meet, please contact my foster mommy or visit us at our pet adoption stand Saturdays

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Coconut, a Richmond Jack Russell Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Jack Russell Terrier for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Jack Russell Terrier dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Jack Russell Terrier breeders who help with Jack Russell Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
