My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rio and Sunshine came to the rescue because, sadly, their owner of 22 years passed away last year. Even though they live in seperate cages, they are close friends. They like to have their cages next to one another so they can talk to each other. The previous owner's family prefers they stay together because they are very fond of each other. Both birds talk. Rio says "Hello" when you walk in the room and "Huh?" and "Where's Erin?" (Erin was the deceased owner's granddaughter). Sunshine says "Hello", and "Pretty Bird" and does various whistles. Both make various kissy, clucking noises and both say "What you doin?" and other short phrases I haven't quite figured out yet. They don't seem to mind cage cleaning but I am not sure about handling them yet. Sunshine doesn't like it when you try to handle him and Rio will allow a male friend of mine pet her head and beak but not hold her yet. I think she might allow handling at a later time and I think she prefers men as she was with a male for 22 years. She has laid eggs. Both like fresh fruit, especially Rio, and Rio ate scrambled eggs every AM with her previous owner. When Rio wants attention, she knows how to get it, she is a spoiled little birdy! She has a very loud voice for a smaller parrot! These birds are used to lots of love and attention. They need someone that has the time to work with them on expanding their vocabulary and coming out of the cage. If you are gone alot then these are not the birds for you. These birds have alot of potential to learn easily if you are willing to spend time with them.
