My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

While walking the cages at Animal Care and Control, NLOL volunteers spotted what looked like a miniature Doberman cowering in the corner of her cage. After about 10 minutes of trying to convince her to come out, Mae finally realized that we were ok and hesitantly walked out. Poor Mae had been dropped off by her "family" when they moved to pet-free housing. She looked pretty traumatized by being in a shelter, but as soon as we got her outside we saw the real Mae! She is a sweet little gal who, although shy, warms up quickly to new people and even gave our volunteer a little kiss!

Mae was marked as a "timid" dog. We believe that she will come out of her shell with a little TLC and special attention from our volunteers! Mae has only been part of NLOL for a short time and is already a volunteer favorite. Her sweet shy face has managed to bring even the most hardened non-dog people down for a little chat!

Mae is currently battling a fierce case of pneumonia and will not be available for placement until that is under control. For more information on her condition, please read her story on our Sponsor A Dog page.

UDPATE: Mae is currently recovering in a foster home and receiving the best care available. Her foster mom is devoted to getting her back to 110% health! Mae is getting along great with her dog pals and kitty friends. What a good girl!
