Chewie's Story...
Chewie is the kind of dog that never gets noticed - large, black, and quietly confident. We term these dogs the "invisible" dogs of the shelter world. At Animal Care and Control, Chewie had been passed by many times before NLOL came in to transfer more dogs. Chewie seemed to know that we were there for him, so when we got him outside, he made the most of it by behaving like a perfect gentleman. He is a great dog and we're so happy that he's part of the NLOL family!

Chewie was an owner give-up to ACC, so he has a good sense of house manners. We have not seen Chewie with children or cats yet, but he has a very stable temperament around adults and other dogs. Chewie would prefer a home where he does not have to be crated, as he thinks he's spent enough time in cages!

Chewie is currently living in a foster home with two other dogs and doing well. We'll update Chewie's bio as we learn more about him. For now, contact us to meet him today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chewie, a Chicago German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Chicago, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
