Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nicky is a sweetheart of an Akita who is constantly happy despite all the ups and downs in his life. He first came to the shelter as a young dog and was successfully adopted by a family who kept him until they had to move in April. Unable to take Nicky with them, the family returned him to the shelter. Nicky is now seven years old and due to an eye disease is mostly, if not totally blind. Despite these difficulties Nicky is very attentive and loves everyone he meets. He loves nothing more than being connected to someone through petting and he walks very well on the leash. Nicky responds to basic commands and has a very calm energy level. He will probably do best in a calm household where he can relax without being startled and with a family who can provide a consistent environment so he learns to move around without bumping into things. Don’t let Nicky’s eye condition blind you to the fantastic dog he is.
