My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gonzo had wandered the streets of Grand Rapids for about five years. His orange fur was matted so tightly to his skin that it is hard to imagine how he didn’t go crazy. His oozing eye was blinding him. His face was all scratched up from fighting other tomcats. Yet no one took the initiative to help this cat. Likely most people thought, “Someone else will do it.”

But that someone else never did–until Wanda moved into the neighborhood. She took it upon herself to trap this pathetic kitty and bring him to me. He had fleas, worms, ear mites, an ear infection, matted fur and a blinded eye, which had to be removed.

But after all was said and done, he was one of the sweetest, most affectionate cats I
have ever rescued.

Gonzo has been adopted to a wonderful family who just adores him, but unfortunately they have realized Gonzo is violently opposed to dogs. They have decided to return him to our care so we can find him a home where there are only people and other cats. Gonzo LOVES other cats!

Our Adoptable Kittens ARE NOT FERAL. We take them from the streets at a young age, and most are feral at the time of rescue. However we spend many hours taming, socializing, and acclimating them to indoor life as a pet cat. They are currently friendly, healthy, and playful kittens who are just waiting for their special someone to take them home.

All of our kittens are spayed or neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, vaccinated against Distemper, and treated for fleas and other parasites. The Adoption Fee is $75 and also get two kittens for $100!

If you are interested in adopting one of our kittens, please download an Adoption Application from our website at www.focusonferals.org, and email it to crazyforferals@yahoo.com.
