Elmer's Story...
I am a sweet, gentle soul just hoping to meet another sweet, gentle soul. I am not a young chap anymore so I am just hoping for a place to retire. Loving arms and a comfy bed is all I will need to make me happy. My last person didn’t take to good of care of me…left abandoned and all alone to fend for myself on the streets…so I could really use some love and TLC…. I do well with dogs, cats and children just so the long as the children know I am older and will require gentle hands. I even appear to be housebroken already. If you think you have room in your hear for the little senior come on in and scoop me up! 10 years old-13lbs. My adoption fee is $80 and includes; neuter rebate, microchip, reduced cost Training Class, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & Treat packet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Elmer, a Portland Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Portland, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
