My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Margo and her buddy Maynard sat at a shelter in New Orleans for almost two months. The shelter was willing to separate them but they still could not find a permanent home for them. We took them into rescue because they had run out of time at the shelter. Now that they are with us, we have decided that they would be miserable if they were separated. They are in a fabulous foster home but Maynard's heartworm treatment is now over, so they are available for adoption. The adoption fee can be reduced since taking on two hounds is a bigger responsibility than just one. Once again, we are trying to close but still trying to help the most desperate of basset hounds. These two were desperate. Please consider donating to their care by going to our home page and clicking on the donation button. All donations are tax deductible. www.bayoubassets.petfinder.org We are no longer doing the Bayou Basset Boogie so we really need people to make private donations.

Maynard is very sweet and loves attention; sometimes gets timid around new people; will dig and “counter cruise’ if he gets bored; loves belly rubs and toys; he is such a clown.

He is 4 yrs old and 60 lbs. He walks well on a leash outside of the stopping to sniff. he is house and crate crated and does well with other dogs, cats and kids.

Maynard has a moderate to high energy level. He occasionally jumps up when excited so older children would be best.

Both Margo and Maynard are what people think of when they think of bassets...laid back, friendly and adorable. Please donate to Margo and Maynard's care: http://www.firstgiving.com/bayoubassets.

Margo and Maynard is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
