My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone! My name is Fred, but my foster mom likes to call me Freddie! She says ‘ready Freddie?’ and I give her a big ol’ hi-five!
The reason I ended up in rescue is very sad. My owner of 6.5 years brought me to Maricopa County Animal Control and signed me over to be euthanized. The paperwork he filled out said the reason for euthanasia was because I ‘was going blind and bumping into things.’ I had no idea why I was there, or they left me in a pound, and walked away without turning back. The wonderful vet staff looked me over and noticed dozens of skin growths all over my body. My left eye had an ulcer SO bad that it was actually bleeding. My tail was severely infected, and I would run really fast- sit down and rub my bum on the floor for some relief. The shelter staff almost cried at the absolute neglect I have been through. The nice staff at the shelter knew that Love-A-Bull could help me, and called my foster mom pronto! I was saved!!!
When I got to my foster home, I got a nice bath, and was off to the rescue vet. We went over all of the things that I need to get healthy again. Eye drops, tail removal, and skin growth removal and biopsy. She removed all of the yucky skin growths and had them sent to the lab. NO SKIN CANCER! YAY!
My tail was removed a week later, and I have NO PAIN! Not to mention, the cutest darn little bum you have ever seen!
The vet said my eyes have improved a million percent and I have even regained some of my vision! I can see pretty well!
The vet wanted to know more about these skin growths, so she ran a full blood panel and it turns out, I have had a very low thyroid for a very long time. Good news is this: SIMPLE FIX! The thyroid pills can be called into CVS or Walgreens, and they only run about $10 a month!
My daily regimen will include my eye drops, as well as a thyroid pill. Easy as 1, 2, 3!

Can you believe I was almost put to sleep!?
Ok, so now you know my story. Let me tell you more about my gleaming personality! First off- I am perfectly housetrained! I LOVE to be silly. I try to eat my leash, and roll over on my back. I run up to people, with my front paws kicking up high with joy. There is SO much love inside of me, I am bursting at the seams!
Every person who sees my pictures, is going to want me. BUT- my foster mom is going to be VERY strict on my new family. Here are my requirements. I need a home with no kids, cats or male dogs. I do get along great with my foster sister, but she is very submissive and let's me rule the roost, so she is okay in my books. :-) IF I go live with another dog, the dog must be a submissive spayed female, and a stellar vet reference! Remember, I am going to require daily care with my wrinkle cleaning and eye drops, so being an only dog wouldn't be bad either. I have no history with cats. I would do okay with older kids, but no little ones please, just due to the fact that I have not been around them before.
I am totally ‘Mr. Personality.’ Goofy, funny and extremely handsome! I have the biggest wrinkles you have ever seen!
My foster family is going to require that I stay at Alma School Animal Hospital in Mesa, AZ as my permanent vet, just because she knows me so well!
Rescue has spent close to $1000 on my care to get me healthy.

*****My adoption donation will be $375.
I can’t wait to meet my forever home. You will not be disappointed! I promise you this, I am the bulldog of your dreams!

You MUST fill out an application if you want to be considered for my home. NO inquiries will be returned without an application on file. We DO NOT adopt outside of Arizona, and we do not adopt to homes with more than 2 dogs.

*WHY ARE SOME DOG’S ADOPTION FEES HIGHER THAN OTHERS?
The adoption donation fees are based on age, health and needed vet care of the dogs we have taken in. The younger, healthier dogs help to pay for their cousins that need a little more TLC. You adoption donation fee also covers the cost of the spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip of your new dog.
*CAN WE COME SEE YOUR DOGS?
All of our dogs are in foster homes around the Phoenix area. We require an application to be filled out, a home check to be done, and vet reference check to be complete before having you come meet the dog of your dreams! We will ONLY contact you when we have a potential match.
*I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL DOGS WHO I THINK WOULD FIT MY HOME, BUT THEY ARE NOW ADOPTED. WHY?
We take a lot of time to get to know our dogs in rescue. Some are barkers, which cannot go into condos or apartments, some require companionship of other dogs, and some are not good with children. Each dog is unique!
*IS THERE A WAITING LIST OF APPROVED APPLICANTS?
YES! That is why even if you are not ready to adopt, get your application into us if you want to be considered for a future adoption.
*I AM LOOKING FOR A PUPPY OR VERY YOUNG BULLDOG.
Well, you have come to the wrong place. Rescue dogs on average are between 3 and 7 years old, we do not get puppies into rescue. We would, however, be able to refer you to a reputable breeder.
*BULLDOGS ARE SO EXPENSIVE! WHY?
If you are looking for a cheap bulldog by choosing rescue, need not apply! Rescue dogs are dogs that are going to need ongoing vet care, and a lot of love and training from their new humans. We only adopt to homes that truly want to RESCUE a homeless bulldog. This is not the place to find a “cheaper” bulldog.
*I HAVE AN APPLICATION ON FILE, AND HAVE CALLED A FEW TIMES, WITH NO RESPONSE.
We will contact you when we believe we have a dog that is a match.
Please remember: Not only are bulldogs adorable and cute, they are also high-maintenance and expensive! ☺
