My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Diana, on December 7th, I witnessed a pit bull get hit by a truck on Chandler Blvd (between Dobson & Alma School). The driver of that truck just took off. Along with two other witnesses I immediately stop my car in a desperate attempt to save her but we all thought she was already dead. We ran in the middle of the busy street and picked her up and she started to wag her tail, but we all could see she was suffering.

We took her to the nearest Veterinary clinic and called the Humane Society Emergency Hotline, the Vet immediately said she definitely broke her left leg and may be bleeding internally, she was bleeding from her nose. She was immediately placed on IV fluids and sedated to ease her pain while we waited for the HS to come The three of us stayed with her until the HS came, myself, Cindy and Megan all strangers coming together to help this poor innocent dog. On December 8th I went to the Humane Society and they said it appeared she only broke her front left leg, they determined she was only about 10 months old. She has been sedated, but would be available for adoption on December 10th if her owner did not claim her. At this point I knew I had to help her and decided to give her a name (Angel - because she definitely had angels looking out for her).

Then on December 9th I was told by the HS that her condition is much worse then they originally thought, her left leg was broken in two places and she needed to go to a specialist immediately, they also said that it appears she has severe nerve damage to her right leg which may need to be amputated, then they proceeded to say she may have brain trauma and has to be sedated the entire time to stop her pain, she was being monitored for seizures and if she had one they would have to euthanized her immediately.

The HS also stated that due to the bad brake in her left leg, they could no longer treat her and if I could not guarantee that I would take her to a specialist by December 10th she would be euthanized. I immediately contacted Sonora and they also said that her injuries sounded life threatening and it would be up to me to take on this challenge, they also warned me that if I decided to take on this challenge there are no guarantees that she will recover and her medical bills will most likely run in the $2,000 - $4,000's range.

At this point, Megan, Cindy and I knew as much as we wanted to help Angel, we financially couldn't, as much as it broke our hearts we had to come to the realization that I would call the HS first thing on Saturday December 10th and inform them to do what they felt would be best for Angel. BUT when I called the HS Saturday morning, I was informed that Angel was up and moving around on 3 legs and wagging her tail. Angel did not want to die and was begging me not to give up on her.

Angel went to Sonora Hospital and had surgery

She is good with non dominant dogs and good with cats, best in a home with older children. She will need a loving home who can care for her and take her to her after care appointments (which are already paid for) her leg had a pretty bad break but sugery was successful.
Angel is extremely sweet, has not had much training and would need to go into a home where someone is there all the time. They need to have patience and willing to follow the Vet's instructions on no activities

I would truly appreciate any assistance in guaranteeing Angel a new lease on life,
