Alex's Story...
Happy, happy boy that is a little shy at first but warms up very quickly. This guy will make a wonderful friend to you! He is not a barker, is very happy to have your attention, not pushy, sleeps well at the end of the bed, and gets along well with other dogs. If they get in his face, he gives a polite growl or moves on, doesn't instigate trouble. Alex did well in a foster home where there were teenagers but not in a home with young children, unexpected movement and noise, so he would probably not be suited to a family with yound kids. He is an awesome dog but is a little skittish because of past abuse and needs a family who is willing to be patient with him while he learns that the hand that reaches out for him is not going to smack him but instead wants to pet him.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Alex, a Salem Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Salem, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
