Timmy's Story...
UPDATE 7/19/2010: Please consider fostering this special pair!!!! They really need your help and you won't be sorry that they are in your life. They have so much to give. Please contact us to help. spcagainesville@hotmail.com
POSTED 5/2/2010: Opie and Timmy have a very unique story and need your help. Timmy and Opie used to be office cats with 3 others. The FBI shut down their office home due to "financial misconduct". So as of last Friday Opie and Timmy were essentially made homeless by the FBI. The other 3 office cats have been placed in new homes but Opie and Timmy are different. They are the kind of cats we love to help because they have special needs and would not make it through the regular shelter network. Opie is an 8 year old Siamese mix. He is called a flame point because he has orange ears, face, and tail and a cream colored body. Opie is a very tall, large cat but he is a little on the thin side weighing only 9.7 lbs. Opie has been diagnosed with chronic renal disease which means his kidneys aren't working at 100% anymore. He was diagnosed about 6 months ago and continues to do great! You wouldn't know it to look at him because he loves to play and is eating well. He is very affectionate and loving and doesn't know a stranger. True to his breed mix he is also talkative. His buddy and admirer is Timmy. Timmy is a very hefty 20 lb. brown tabby boy. Timmy is much shorter than Opie but much much wider. Timmy adored Opie. He rubs and heads and tries to sleep with Opie any chance he gets. These 2 couldn't be separated, making their adoption even more difficult. Timmy is a gentle giant. He can jump and move around fine, even at his weight, and has no problem fitting in a little cubby hole so he can sleep next to Opie. Timmy is also talkative and very affectionate with humans. These 2 boys haven't ever met a stranger. Timmy loves being brushed and needs a little help in the grooming department because he can't quite reach the middle of his back. We think Timmy also has mild allergies because he has a little watery eye and occasional sneeze but nothing severe and nothing that requires medication. Opie and Timmy eat dry food but because of Opie's renal condition it is also good for him to eat canned food. These boys are currently living in a double size kitty cage at our vets office and we are eagerly seeking a temporary foster or permanent home for them. If you think you can help Timmy and Opie, please e-mail us at spcagainesville@hotmail.com for more information and an adoption form. All of our cats and kittens have been vet checked, vaccinated, dewormed and treated for fleas and parasites with advantage multi, spayed or neutered and microchipped. Our adoption fee is $100 to help cover a portion of the medical and care costs.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Timmy, a Putnam Hall Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Putnam Hall, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Putnam Hall.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Putnam Hall already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Putnam Hall breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Putnam Hall paves the way for another one to be saved.
