Tweek's Story...
Tweek was rescued from death row at New York Avenue Shelter. She came to us with four adorable babies as well as a surprise “bonus baby,” all of who have found homes. The babies can be seen showing off on Cute Overload. She’s now learning to be a kitten again as her babies have been weened and taken to their new homes. She has such an open heart that when she hears a kitty cry she goes to tend to it as a good momma does. She is beautiful with medium-length white hair, gray tabby markings, and the most beautiful light green eyes. Tweek is a sweetie and will let you pick her up and cuddle her and give her lots of love. She is very gentle, and never scratches or bites. Click here to fill out an adoption application online. If you have any questions, please call Kelley, the Adoption Counselor, at 703-819-5240.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tweek, a Alexandria American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Alexandria, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Alexandria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Alexandria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Alexandria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Alexandria paves the way for another one to be saved.
