Georgia's Story...
This lab mix puppy is fresh out of the pound so we're still getting to know her, but she is definitely a sweetie and has stolen her foster mother's heart. She's full of kisses and loves to be with her people, sitting at their feet watching TV or hanging around the kitchen during dinner time. She's a smart girl and has already picked up the fundamentals of 'sit' and 'shake'. Toys are a new concept for Georgia, but she's already showing a special partiality to a certain rope toy. She gets along fine with the other dogs in the house but she also doesn't mind being on her own. Just so long as she has her people, Georgia is fine. Georgia's foster mom says that she is exceptionally calm for a puppy, but she is new to her foster home, so this may partly be the typical 'grateful best behavior' that rescued dogs show when they first arrive. After all, Georgia is a lab puppy and although they are always perfectly lovable, they aren't always perfect angels! Georgia probably is a calmer variety lab puppy, but we won't be surprised when her goofy side busts loose. Stay tuned for more on Georgia.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Georgia, a Athens Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Athens, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Athens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Athens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Athens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Athens paves the way for another one to be saved.
