Phoebe's Story...
Phoebe is a 3 year old Border Collie mix who is mostly black with a few white markings on her face, feet, and chest. She is a moderate to high energy dog. She has very good house manners, is housetrained, crate trained, and has basic obedience. She will try to ignore commands and pull on the leash if allowed, so needs a firm but gentle leader who won't let her get away with that! Phoebe loves other dogs of all ages and sizes, but can become a little possessive over her toys (only toys, not food). She has strong herding instinct. With proper exercise this lowers but because of this Phoebe will do best in a home without young children. She has been socialized with young children and does well with them, but still may herd them. She does well with bathing and grooming, though they are not her favorite activities! Phoebe is not a water dog. Phoebe can be a little shy at first with new people, but warms up quickly if given space. She is very much a people-centered dog and will follow you around the house room to room. She hasn't spent much time away from people, so will exhibit some separation anxiety in the form of barking, but no destructive behaviors. However, she is not a "needy" dog when around her people, and makes a great companion. She will lay near you wherever you go, and likes sleeping at the foot of the bed if you allow her, but is just as happy on her own dog pillow. Phoebe is being rehomed due to owner';s illness, which makes it impossible to give her the proper exercise she needs and deserves. She is an indoor dog but enjoys playing outside, running, chasing balls (we are working on bringing back), and learning new things. Phoebe does well with praise and clicker training. She is smart and a fast learner and would enjoy a family that would love training as much as she does. Phoebe is looking for a home that can give her the exercise, leadership, and love that she deserves. In return she will be unfalteringly loyal and unconditionally loving.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Phoebe, a Scottsdale Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Scottsdale, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Scottsdale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Scottsdale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Scottsdale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Scottsdale paves the way for another one to be saved.
