Makita's Story...
Hi, my name is Makita and I am 5 years old. I was brought to VPAS by my mom because she had to move and was not able to take me with her. When I first arrived at VPAS I was very frightened and I couldn't figure out why my mom hadn't come back for me. I was very sad at first but I eventually made friends with the nice people who work at VPAS, as well as with some of the other cats that are here. Almost all of my friends have been adopted and everyone has bypassed me. Everyone says that I am very pretty and friendly, but because I don't like young children people keep adopting the other animals. I really want a home of my own and would be perfect for a single person or an older couple. I have only ever been an indoor cat and I am quite independent. I might be okay if I shared my home with other cats, or perhaps a dog, but that would depend on the individual pet (I get along with some cats and dogs, but not with others.) If you have room in your heart for a sassy, independent girl like me please come to VPAS and let me win you over.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Makita, a Saanichton Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Saanichton, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Saanichton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Saanichton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Saanichton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Saanichton paves the way for another one to be saved.
