Barry's Story...
Barry is a very sweet, playful, snugly and friendly 18-month-old, 40-pound, black and white Spaniel/Retriever-mix looking for a loving home. Barry is full of happy smiles and takes treats very gently from your fingers. He loves people and other dogs. An active person or family would make him happy; he also loves to swim! Rescued as a stray in February from Pike County Animal Control in Pittsfield, Illinois, poor Barry was treated for heartworm disease. He came through with flying colors and is now healthy, neutered, de-wormed, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on rabies, bordatella, and distemper vaccines. His adoption fee of $200 benefits rescued dogs. To meet and possibly adopt Barry, please contact Ray at colonelchisholm@sbcglobal.net or 847-639-6801. He is being kenneled in West Chicago, Illinois.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Barry, a Chicago Flat-Coated Retriever/Spaniel (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Flat-Coated Retriever/Spaniel (Unknown Type) for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Flat-Coated Retriever/Spaniel (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Flat-Coated Retriever/Spaniel (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Flat-Coated Retriever/Spaniel (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
