My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Baxter is an energetic young black male Lab without a mean bone in his body. We found him on the run and despite attempts to find his owners, who obviously took great care of and loved him, we have found no success. He listens to your voice and just wants to do the right thing. He has learned his new name too. We crate him while we are out, because we also have 2 other male labs and just do not think it is a good idea to let all 3 play unattended yet. Bax gets along great with our 2 boys and there has been no sign or thoughts of aggression. He is house trained and would be great by himself or with others. Someone loved him and must miss him, but he had no tags or micro-chip, just a new collar. We would keep him, but already have the 2 boys. Baxter has lots of Lab in him because he loves to retrieve and always wags his big beaver tail. If you are looking for a Big Love, Baxter is for you.

UPDATE FROM BAXTER'S FOSTER:
Baxter is a wonderful dog. We have been thinking about the perfect family and I guess it would be similar to ours - one without kids or with older children and not a lot of high traffic going on. We have company that comes over, but it's not crazy busy at our house. I guess it's more of a controlled environment that he has time to handle. It will take some work to get Baxter more comfortable with meeting new people and new animals, as he is a little insecure, but he has great potential. He just needs some patience as he gains self-confidence and becomes more socialized. He really warms up easily and is definitely a dog who has many emotions, so it takes a little time for him to bond but once he bonds is extremely loyal and loving. Baxter is completely house trained, he walks well on a leash, and he isn't destructive in the home. Cameras seemed to bother him but other noises in the home don't seem to bother him at all (i.e vacuum, hair dryer, music, t.v., etc). He would do well with another dog as long as they are introduced correctly. He really loves to play with our dogs, but we introduced them slowly and in an open environment and one by one. Now they are inseparable and believe it or not, he likes their companionship. Another confident dog would be the best match for Baxter. Overall he is a great Lab who is just working to overcome some past hardships. Adopt Baxter and watch as he blossoms into a confident boy.
