Sinatra is a 2 year old female who is being rehomed by her family for personal reasons. Sinatra is healthy except for the usual skin allergies related to grains. She will require premium grain free food for the rest of her life. Sinatra does occasionally have squabbles over toys and attention with her Lab brother, her present family thinks she may be happier as an only child. For this reason, we are going to classify her as "no children, no pets" She is in no way aggressive, just wants all the attention.
Sinatra did suffer a leg fracture as a pup, underwent surgical repair and does not suffer from any lasting disability from the fracture.
She will be spayed and then available for adoption.
Update: Sinatra's skin was horrible when she arrived in rescue. She is currently on antibiotics. Her skin is healing and fur is regrowing. When cleared by our vet, she will be spayed. Sinatra has been isolated from other dogs to prevent fighting(dog aggression was reported by her owners), She has come in contact with our other dogs on a limited basis and has done well.
Although Sinatra's owners assured us that she was a papered English Bulldog, we suspect that she may be an Olde English Bulldog.....doesn't matter, she is very sweet.
Update: Sinatra's skin has made great progress. She will require medication to decrease allergic reaction for most of the spring and summer each year. We still struggle with potty issues, mainly because of fear of the dark, outside and an aversion to dew moistened grass in the morning. When free in my home, she has never had an accident, but will potty if left alone in a room. I believe in a normal home situation, her habits would improve. With 7 other dogs in my home and having to segregate her from the rest of the pack due to intermittent dog aggression, it certainly isn't the perfect situation for her. Her perfect home situation would be with someone who was home during the day, woke late and could take her outside for her first potty after the dew had dried on the grass, last potty would have to be before dark during the summer. She is crate trained and will not potty in her crate.
She is very very sweet and loves human contact. She is only intermittently dog aggressive with some dogs, mainly fear based and has exhibited toy aggression.
Background: We believe that in her previous home, she was allowed very little freedom and was kept crated for most of her life.
Update: Sinatra continues to have intermittent skin issues, even after allergy testing and eliminating allergens from her diet. The fall is a bad time for us, for environmental allergies. Our most pressing problem are potty issues. Sinatra won't go potty if it's dark outside or if the ground is wet. She is a very sweet girl and we continue to work on her fears.
Update: Sinatra is a sweet submissive girl with a lot of fears. Therefore, we have found her behavior to be unpredictable, occasionally around other dogs, but for the most part she is a good girl. She simple refuses to potty outside when the ground is wet. She is now on allergy shots and improving the skin issues. Sinatra will need a very nurturing and patient home. It has taken us almost 2 years to get her to the point where she will go potty outside (when it's not raining). Her perfect home would be without other dogs or cats and a parent who stays home or works from home. Children are OK, she is very gentle. BUT...she will need patience and love!
