Hollywood*ADOPTED!*'s Story...
HOLLYWOOD HAS BEEN ADOPTED!Hollywood is a very cute, sweet and affectionate 18 month old, 40 pound, male Beagle/Hound mix waiting patiently for a loving home. We are not really sure what Hollywood is mixed with, but he looks just like a mini Rhodesian Ridgeback. On his walks in the neighborhood, he always gets compliments on his unique and handsome look! Hollywood was rescued from an overburdened pound in southern IL. He came to us with a condition called Entropia. This is a painful condition where they eyelashes grow in towards the eyes and continuously scrape against the eyeball. Hollywood has since had surgery to correct the problem. Hollywood also has some motor and perception issues, he is still very clumsy and is not the most coordinated dog we've met. Our vet thinks he may have been infected with distemper when he was a pup, the virus causes the brain to swell, sometimes resulting in some brain damage. Very few dogs survive the disease so that means Hollywood is a fighter! The ones that do survive though, tend to exhibit some issues in the motor and sensory department. His clumsiness just adds to his charm! He can hear and see but does seem to have some perception problems. Hollywood is a happy dog that loves people and is good with other dogs as well. He loves to go for walks and he loves to run, he'll be a great walking or jogging companion. Hollywood, like most Hounds is very intelligent but does have a little bit of a stubborn streak. He is very food motivated though and will do almost anything for a treat! Also, true to his Hound heritage, Hollywood follows his nose and because of this, he'd probably do best with a fenced in yard. He is crate trained and housebroken when kept on a regular schedule. He will make a fabulous companion for one lucky family. Please email palsplace1@hotmail.com for more info on Hollywood.

Hollywood's adoption donation is $150. This donation helps to cover his neuter, initial vaccines, initial worming and microchip. Pal's Place relies solely on donations to care for the pets in our care. Your donation also helps save other animals like Hollywood from euthanasia.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hollywood*ADOPTED!*, a Chicago Beagle/Bloodhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Bloodhound for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Beagle/Bloodhound dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Bloodhound breeders who help with Beagle/Bloodhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
