Meet Tobie! Tobie is a gorgeous Newfoundland mix who is currently living in the New England
Here's a little background: Here's a dog who survived the river water and then made it through Katrina's flooding! We all know Newfs are water dogs, but enough already! Tobie Dog was rescued from a sand bank in the middle of a river, where he had been abandoned. The young man who rescued Tobie took him to the vet and learned that his new buddy was primarily Newf.
Tobie's foster mom gave us a wonderful update. She says that Tobie knows the commands sit, down, off and come. He also knows the command "out" if you want him out of the kitchen, for example. She shares that he is not a food begger, however!
Tobie has formed quite a bond with the cat in the house and in fact is quite in love with him, as evidenced by a drool-covered (but happy) cat! He also has been quite a gentleman when guests have come to the house.
Tobie loves men and women equally, but his foster mom feels that Tobie would love a male companion to hang out with, preferably someone with large breed experience (he is 110 pounds, after all!) Tobie needs an adopter who is a firm leader so that Tobie will know where he fits in.
Tobie loves being brushed, sitting still for this task. He also walks well on a leash.
