My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jensen was "Free Kitten". We tell his story here to bring attention to the fate of most "free kittens".

We don't know where he was born, how many littermates he had, or what kind of family he started out his life with. What we do know is that family gave him away as a free kitten.

Whoever took him decided after a very short time that they didn't want a kitty, and they abandoned him at the home of a woman in SE Grand Rapids. She feeds the neighborhood strays and we guess they figured that leaving him at her house, he would be cared for.

FOF was there helping her to fix the last of her feral cats, and we saw him. We took him into our adoption program because the inner city is no place for a friendly kitten to live.

What if we hadn't come along? Jensen could have faced any number of cruel fates, as he is so trusting. Being a cat outdoors, and trusting people, is not a good thing. If he did make it to adulthood, he would have just contributed to the overpopulation of stray and feral cats, as he would not have been fixed.

Fate had it that we would rescue him. But for 90% of "Free Kittens", that is not the case.

Our Adoptable Kittens ARE NOT FERAL. We take them from the streets at a young age, and most are feral at the time of rescue. However we spend many hours taming, socializing, and acclimating them to indoor life as a pet cat. They are currently friendly, healthy, and playful kittens who are just waiting for their special someone to take them home.

All of our kittens are spayed or neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, vaccinated against Distemper, and treated for fleas and other parasites. The Adoption Fee is $75 and also get two kittens for $100!

If you are interested in adopting one of our kittens, please download an Adoption Application from our website at www.focusonferals.org, and email it to crazyforferals@yahoo.com, or mail it to PO Box is 372, Lowell MI 49331.
