My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

So, I guess I have to list Krista as special needs. I so hate doing that because she's just like any other cat, except for not being able to hear you when you call her.
A bell collar is the perfect solution to keeping track of a deaf kitty in the house.

Krista is a beautiful white Persian with golden eyes. She was found wandering the streets in southern California and ended up in the shelter. The shelter called us and now she's safe and sound in foster care, but little Krista still needs to find her own family.

Krista is pure white with an easy care coat, she needs to be brushed a few times a week to keep the mats down and her eyes must be wiped daily with a warm, wet paper towel.

She is great about taking a bath and adores being brushed. She's very playful and loving, but not pushy about it. Krista is not what we call a "lap cat", but she will let you hold her and snuggle her for short periods of time.

After she was in foster care for several days, her foster mom noticed that Krista wouldn't wake up due to noise and nothing loud startled her at all. After a visit to the vet, it was confirmed that poor little Krista is deaf. She may be able to hear some noise, but very little, if any.

This doesn't slow Krista down a bit, she is curious and loving and an all around fun kitty. She follows her foster mom all over the house, rubs up against her legs at every opportunity. Her favorite spot is on her foster mom's desk, curled up sleeping or helping her write bios for other kitties just like her who need forever homes.

Krista LOVES her wet food and she will definitely let you know when it's time to eat, she's the perfect weight for a kitty her size and is squeezably soft. When you pet her she curls her toes and arches her back. She loves to sleep on the bed beside you. And she even sleeps with her foster mom's small dog. She is fine around other nice cats and would be great as an only cat as well, but she loves company and wouldn't like to be left alone for long stretches of time.

Having a deaf kitty in the house is something new for her foster mom and she's learned that very little adjustment is needed for Krista. She just keeps in mind that Krista can't hear her when she calls and to be careful walking around Krista, because she can't hear footsteps and know to move out of the way like other cats do.

Krista is a soft stepping kind of kitty and very well mannered. She's going to make someone a great companion.

Pictures coming soon.
