Ms Mac's Story...
Ms Mac's Story...
(Ms Mac was dumped at the shelter with a horrendous case of mange. She had a rough start in life, as you can see in photo #3.) Ms. Mac has been at the shelter since she was a puppy, with the exception of a brief adoption. She was brought back through no fault of her own. She is somewhat shy at first, but super sweet after you gain her trust. Because of being at the shelter for her whole life, she could take a little while to acclimate to a new way of living. We know she would love to have a home with the right person that would be patient with her while she learns to be in a new setting. She is a survivor. She is sweet and deserves a chance. We think you would agree once you meet her.
We are a no-kill shelter! The main goal of our shelter is to rescue as many abandoned animals as possible from the Ozark/Dale County area. We do our best to give them every chance for being adopted into loving and safe homes. We do not assign time limits on our orphans. We are a non-profit organization and depend solely on donations and fundraisers. We receive NO money from the government or the Humane Society of the United States. As a 501(c)(3) all donations are tax deductible. All proceeds are used for the health and welfare of our animals.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Our shelter is located on Bivins Road in Ozark, Alabama. Coming from Dothan, take hwy 231 North until you see signs for the rest area. Just past the rest area, turn right on to County Road 30. Go up to the top of the hill. The first paved road to the left is Bivins. Turn left on Bivins. We are around the curve on the right side of the road.
The shelter is open to the public from 8 a.m.- noon 7 days a week. Viewing pets after hours can be made by appointment.
We always need volunteers! All of the animals need someone to walk, pet and play with them. We also have a fenced in exercise area where you can let them off the leash to play. Volunteers are also always welcome to visit with out cats in the cattery.
Our Adoption Process...
We require an adoption application, contract, vet reference and a home visit. Unless otherwise stated, adoption fees are $125.00 for dogs and $75.00 for cats.
All age eligible pets must be spayed or neutered prior to completion of the adoption process. If the pet is too young for surgery, you will be provided a date for surgery per the adoption contract. If you choose to use your own vet, we will reimburse surgery fees up to the amount our vet is charging.
Our animals are tested for heartworms or feline leukemia and feline HIV. They receive vaccinations and are wormed.
