Neptune's Story...
Neptune is a very handsome, sweet and shy, seven-week-old, male brown tabby kitten. This magnificent kitten was dropped off with his mom and siblings at Chicago Animal Care and Control. He and the rest of the family were lucky to find a wonderful foster home in which to finish growing up. If you would like to adopt Neptune by himself or with another kitten, or with his mom ... they will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to adoption. They all enjoy using their scratching post, and would like to keep their nails. It would be wonderful if they could be adopted in pairs, so they have a family member to play with. To meet and possibly adopt any of these adorable felines, please e-mail their foster mom Kathy at Each cat’s adoption fee of $65 supports the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Neptune, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
