My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Petey and I’m a little lovebug. I am 11 pounds of happiness and sweetness --and
a very special little guy too! You see I was born with an unformed back leg – but it never kept me from being normal. I ran, played, loved and tumbled with my family. Then when I was about six or seven, my family took me to the shelter … and left me! You see my other back leg was tired – and I could no longer be the playful little guy I once had been.

I was scared, very scared. The big barking dogs scared me, being in a crowded cage with other dogs scared me -- and I kept looking for my family. The shelter manager was concerned! She knew that no one was going to see my beautiful spirit, my soft brown eyes and my sweetness.

That caring, compassionate lady called Bichon FurKids - and my Aunties came to my rescue. They thought I might do well with a cart – and would, once again, be able to live life to the fullest. Then my cart arrived (it was made just for me!) I got it adjusted and started to learn how to make it work. It took a little bit of time … then, with determination and support, I mastered my wheels. You see I really like to walk! I always did and now I can once more! Yea for me!

I learned how to walk on concrete – and even on grass! Soon I learned that I could go just about any where with my wheels. I got so good with my wheels that my aunties are calling me Speedy, Sweetie Petey!

Oh and I want you to know I can still move around the house and yard without my wheels – and I can certainly find my way to snuggle on your lap. It’s just that they give me the freedom to be an active, playful guy once again.

Now my biggest and greatest prayer is that some wonderful people will see my spirit, my sweetness, my determination and my trusting nature -- and invite me to join their family.

So if I sound like a little guy who’s right for you, please complete our application and
Ask for me.

Your friend-in-waiting,
Speedy, Sweetie Petey
