Shelby's Story...
2/22/06 - Update from the foster family
We have had Shelby one day and I am finding it hard to believe she has a heart condition. I let her out into my backyard last night and she took off like a bullet, smelling her new surroundings. The resident golden is a little jealous but has been very gracious with her so far. She is even allowing her to take her toys.

We do have a crate for Shelby however last night both dogs slept in our bed and everything was fine. Shelby has a lot of energy and has already claimed our couch as her own. She rides well in the car and appears to already be potty trained. She is very sweet and not shy at all with us.

Shelby was a stray who is very thin and appears to have recently had a litter of pups. She loves people, but is a bit shy. Right now she is confused and wondering what is happening, evident by the worried look on her face. It was discovered that Shelby has a heart murmur so she will require a quiet home. Good food, love and no more pups for this young lady.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shelby, a Cleveland Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Cleveland, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Cleveland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cleveland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cleveland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cleveland paves the way for another one to be saved.
