Gracie's Story...
Gracie (female)
Hey, ya’ll. Yeah… my name’s Gracie. I’m a 1 and half year old Australian Shepherd mix. I was originally a rescue and have lived my current owner for about a year. I’m a pretty laid back kind of a dog… but I do get excited when you first come home. I’m housetrained and am used to staying home about 8 hours a day or so without any accidents. I love rawhide bones and like them because they keep me busy for a long time. I like being near my owner, so I tend to follow you around the house if you’ll let me. I’m timid of other dogs. I think I was bullied when I was a younger pup, so I’d like a home where I’m the only dog. I’m not sure how I would do around cats, because I’ve never lived with them. Little kids might make me nervous too, so a quiet home would be optimum for me. I travel really good in a car. I’ll lie down and stay in the same spot for a long time. I walk good on a leash too. I’m UTD on shots and heartworm/flea preventive. My owners say that I’m probably spayed because I’ve never gone in heat and they didn’t want their vet to open me up to find out. If I’m not spayed, though, you’ll get a voucher to get me spayed for only $55.00. There is a screening process to adopt me because my owner wants to make sure I go to a really good home. If you’d like a well-behaved, affectionate sweetheart of dog and you’d like to meet me, please call Carol at 318-798-6208 or 318-230-0234.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gracie, a Haughton Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Haughton, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Haughton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Haughton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Haughton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Haughton paves the way for another one to be saved.
