My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Buck. Buck-a-Roo is an 8 year old black male in search of a loving family to call his own. He enjoys leisurely walks on the beach and would hold your hand the whole time if he could. Buck also enjoys quiet evenings curled at your side and gentle ear rubs. He will provide lots of kisses and smiles for your attention. Dont let his age fool you Buck-a-Roo can be an active boy and loves to play ball and go swimming.
Buck loves children of all ages and sizes, he is gentle and nurturing to the point of being motherly even with the youngest ones.

He also lives with a smelly kitty who is very naughty and will steal his food, jump on his face like an alien and cling to his legs and tail. He just rolls his eyes and moves to a new spot (repeatedly) until the silly critter gets bored and leaves him alone.

He gets along well with most dogs but still needs to build confidence when meeting dominant male dogs. He may have been bullied and so he takes the attitude that he needs to posture and look tough so new boy dogs wont beat him up but once he knows they wont hurt him he is very friendly. He lives with two other male dogs now and they all get along GREAT.

Buck knows his basic commands - sit, stay, down and walks nicely on or off leash. He is very well mannered and good in the house and in a crate.

Buck does have some kidney disease. He has had multiple thorough health screenings and the vets think that he some type of trauma to his kidneys (poison, bad dog food, untreated infection) BUT his renal tests have all been good with no decline in function and an ultrasound showed that he had no active disease or tumors...so in short, he has some kidney damage that does not appear to be progressing and he has a good prognosis for a long healthy life. He does eat special food that is easier for his kidneys to process and this is about $50 a month. Because of his Kidneys he does drink more water and so he needs to pee more (about every 4 hours during the day- he sleeps fine through the night without needing to potty) He would like a new family who will be home with him most of the day.

Buck-a-Roo is a sweet, gentle, fun loving boy looking for a forever love....is that you?
