My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AUGUST UPDATE: HoneyBear is recovering nicely after her leg surgery. It will be weeks before we know how well she can walk, but it will certainly be better than before! Kind people donating to her surgery fund made it possible for this little dog to have a longer better life. Read more about HoneyBear’s sad story below and see how to make a donation. There is still a balance on her skillful orthopedic surgeon’s bill.
See Photos of her: leg splints After surgery, trying to walk Before surgery, x-rays Before surgery, and one x-ray After surgery showing inserted bone plate.

JULY: I am sweet 4 year old Chihuahua girl that is not yet ready for adoption as I have two broken front ankles. Open Arms dog rescue and my foster mom hope to raise almost $3,000 for my leg surgery. My gait won’t be perfect, but I will be able to walk again. Then I will be ready for a loving home that understands my limitations. I am a good girl that loves to snuggle and my tail is in constant motion because someone loves me.

I was dropped off at the shelter to be euthanized by my backyard breeder after enduring months of pain waiting to have my last litter. My legs healed badly from lack of medical treatment and I cannot walk. Without surgery at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists near Jacksonville, my condition will continue to deteriorate and within 6 months my only option may be the Rainbow Bridge. I am not sure where that is, but I am young and don’t want to go there yet!

I'm hoping for some Best Friends to donate as little as $10 so I have a chance to walk and romp and enjoy the puppyhood I never had. It all adds up… really!

Please share my plight with people that care about animal abuse and consider a donation in my name (HoneyBear):
1. Check to: Open Arms, PO Box 354471, Palm Coast, FL 32135
2. PayPal at: Paws2Heart@bellsouth.net

I will personally send a special thank-you update with photos so you can see what a difference you made to a cute little Chihuahua girl!
