Dodie's Story...
Dodie is a happy 7 month old female Rottweiler mix who is loving life! Dodie came to us from the Austin City dog pound. Animal control officers in Austin picked her up while running loose, and placed her into the dog pound. The owner then has 10 days to claim their dog, but no one showed up to claim Dodie, so we took her into our Humane Society shelter. Dodie weighs about 35 pounds and is a good-natured, full of life young dog. She'll make a good match for a home looking for an all-around family dog, but is willing to take some time to do some basic training with the dog. Dodie does great with other dogs, and is still very puppyish. Dodie resides in a 5' x 10' kennel pen for most of the day, so it makes it hard for us to know if she is housetrained or not. Her prospective home should plan on doing some housetraining work with her. Her adoption fee is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dodie, a Austin Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever for sale in Austin, or seeking a Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
