Chemeko's Story...
Chameko is a gentle, very affectionate and fully trained 3-year-old, 38lb, Sheltie/Akita mix dog who lost his home when his former owners had to "move" to a "no-pet" apartment. Chemeko is GOOD WITH KIDS, CATS, MEN, WOMEN AND OTHER DOGS! Chemeko is FULLY HOUSEBROKEN, NON DESTRUCTIVE AND QUIET in the home. Beautiful and well behaved dog. As of 3-31, Chemeko is in adoptions at the Manhattan AC&C, but we are seeking to get him out of the shelter as soon as possible, either through adoptions or FOSTER. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chemeko, a New York Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Akita dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Akita for sale in New York, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Akita dog from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Akita breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Akita rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
