My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIRD PHOTO COURTESY OF LIBBY VOLGYES/THE PALM BEACH POST

UPDATED BIO 10/3/2010: Mollie is an adorable 6 month old 6.5 lb puppy who is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL.

"Hi, I'm Mollie! I had a rough start to life and used to be afraid of everything. Now my FM is so proud of me. I am 99% wee wee pad trained and house trained. I only have an accident if I am running and playing so much that I just can't stop to go to my wee wee pad. I never walked on a leash or even knew how to walk on grass. Now I walk at the head of the pack and love to pick up anything that moves - like a piece of palm tree, or a leaf that is blowing. When my FM says leave it, I usually do. (Aren't I smart?) I am now at an age that FM is going to start to train me to sit and stay. I never run to go out the door cause FM taught me "wait". See? FM seems to know I am a smart puppy.

I love people to pet me but I still jump when I see them. I used to be afraid, but now I love everyone and every dog I see! I love to play with my furbrother. We play rough and tumble and I get every toy that is meant for him but we just pull and pull until I win. I
eat mostly kibble. I don't like wet dog food and FM lets me graze whenever I want to because she knows I will go to the wee wee pad in the bathroom if I need to. FM says I am just the sweetest girl. I love to have her pick me up and give me a hug, but I wish I was with a forever family. My mange is getting better by the week and I will be ready for you in 5 more weeks. FM says I deserve to be treated like a princess, cause she says that's what I am! :) xoxo - Mollie

UPDATED BIO 09/03/2010: Mollie is an adorable 5 month old yorkie puppy who currently weighs 4.4 pounds; and will probably be close to 8 pounds as an adult. She is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Below is what Mollie recently had to say about herself:
Hi, it’s Mollie again. I am now 19 weeks old and my FM says I have come a long way. I do my business on a wee wee pad or outside, which I just love. Once in awhile I have a pee-pee accident in the house if I am very excited. I used to be afraid of everything, even going outside. Now my FM says I am fearless. I love everyone I meet now and I no longer lay on the ground when I see people and dogs. Speaking of dogs...... I love them!! My FM won’t let me play with really big dogs because she is afraid I may get hurt......but I like to. :) I play with my Foster Brother all the time. We play hard and rough, wrestling and rolling but we never cry, so FM allows us to play....she says it tires us out. (that must be a really good thing cuz after we tire out and take a nap, FM is really happy then). FM is now trying to teach me that barking too much is not a good thing; I am starting to get it. FM is so proud of me, and she wants everyone else to know how far I have come in such a short time (aren't I smart?).

My demodex mange is slow to heal, so I am starting another treatment in 2 weeks. That treatment will take about 2 months and I will be almost 7-8 months old then. I am getting a haircut next week and I will send pictures to all of you so you can see how cute I am.

And I want to send a B-I-G Thank YOU to all of you who donated to help me get better.

PDATED BIO 08/08/2010: Mollie here! I'm now 3.6 lbs and 10 weeks old. Boy, I've had a busy week! I have a lot on my schedule everyday.... Let's see.... play..... eat..... sleep...... and repeat!! Foster mommy's trying to help me learn how to be potty trained. I'm still a baby; so, it's gonna take a little while. I love to play with my foster siblings. I have razor sharp toofers and love to chew..... on them, my Foster Mommy, toys, bully sticks, you name it! Aren't puppies silly?

Well, I seem to have had a little reaction to the Ivermectin that is being used to treat my mange; so, I took a few days off and am starting over again with a lower dosage. Foster mommy says my skin has made tremendous improvements. I'm still getting my special shampoo and taking special supplements for my skin. I am gonna be soooooo pretty when I'm done! Foster mommy says she's accepting applications for me, and she thinks I might be ready for adoption by the end of September. If you're interested in me, please let her know, OK?

ORIGINAL BIO 07/26/2010: My name is Mollie. I am only 2 months old and weigh just over 2 lbs. I have lived such a short time, but all I know is discomfort and itchiness. That's because I have Demodectic Mange, and nobody bothered to give me the medicine it takes to treat it. Thankfully United Yorkie Rescue saved me, is getting me the medicine I need, the good nutrition I need to have a healthy immune system so this is hopefully gone for good, and the love I need to become the best baby girl I can be!

There isn't much to tell about me so far that the pictures don't already show. I have mange (the non-contagious kind) like Mattie. You can see Halee's and Ginger's Happy Tails photo to see how great we turn out! I am a sweet little girl who loves to play, eat, and sleep (just what a puppy should do). I am on a boat-load of medications right now.... antibiotics for my skin, antibiotics for my eyes, medicine for the mange, a fatty acid supplement to make my skin and coat soft and beautiful, and some good puppy food with all the vitamins I need. My foster mommy is going to teach me to potty on a wee wee pad because I am too young to go outside. I am just a little girl with a lot of hope for a happy future. Thanks for reading about me. Foster mom says that she is not accepting applications for me just yet. We need to determine a little more about my personality and behavior before we can choose the right home for me. Thanks for reading! Licks and wags! - Mollie
