My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

8/25/10: Matilley is a very sweet cattle dog personalitied, border collied looking girl! She very much pays attention to the people around her and is immediately aware if she is making them happy or not. She is 100% focused on her people. She knows the commands sit and down. She is definitely crate trained and probably house trained.

She is always happy to see her people. She is a herding dog, so when there are herds around, be they four legged or two legged, her instinct is to herd them. With training this will be manageable, particularly if funneled into agility training or as a running partner.

She has not yet become a ball chaser, but she will definitely be a great agility dog if someone wants her to do that. She would love it. She definitely likes having a job. She has been to the beach and almost swam, but but the other dog with her showed a lot of fear of the water, so Matilley hung back with him.

Matilley loves to play with other dogs, but most loves to play with her people. She is protective of her yard and will discourage interlopers. She has not shown signs of being a digger. She loves to sit at the bottom of a tree and pray with all her might that the squirrels will miss their footing and fall to the ground.

Matilley learns very quickly when positive reinforcement training methods are used, she is not good with aggressive or negative training methods.

Matilley has a very sweet and sensitive temperament. She loves to give kisses, to get belly rubs and to cuddle next to her people!

7-17-10: Hi I'm Matilley!

Hello, My name is Matilley. Yes, that's an Australian accent you hear. While I am a mix, I am all Australian. Definitely Australian Cattle Dog, probably some Australian Shepherd and Border Collie to explain my beautifully thick hair. I'm about 2 years old and between 27-30 lbs.

I sit if you say SIT. I am learning to chase a ball and I am told I would love Flyball. I am a working dog so if you want a running buddy, swimming buddy, or a flyball partner, I'm your girl. We Aussie girls love the outdoors, but we're indoor dogs, too. We like to be outdoors with our person, indoors with our person, heck, everywhere with our person.

My family decided they didn't want a dog so they took me to a shelter with no adoption program. My time was up (I was so scared), but a volunteer stepped in and got me a foster and I was rescued at the last minute!

I love my foster home. I play and play with my foster sibs. They are all so fun and they all seem to like me, too. I get along great with all nice dogs, large and small.

I am crate trained, spayed and ready to go to my forever home.

Come down under, um, on over to meet me. I would love to meetcha.

As with many of our sweeties, Matilley is currently in the south. Please email us for an adoption application today if interested in her. We would love to find this girl a forever home here in the north!
