April's Story...
April is an outgoing and energetic Beagle / Terrier (?)mix. There's just something about her that makes her irresistible! Maybe it's her petite size? Or the way she greets you with full body wags? We just can't decide! April came to us from a very high kill animal control facility in Virginia. She is a small girl who is about 3 years old and weighs only 15 pounds. She is up to date on vaccinations, already spayed, heartworm negative (on monthly preventative) crate trained, and microchipped. April is dog with lots of personality! She is a very independent girl and can be a bit bossy with other dogs. We think she would do best in a home without other dogs where she could be the center of attention. She is OK with cats that are dog friendly but will chase ANYTHING that runs. This spunky little girl loves to play and enjoys going for walks too. She would be a great companion!

We do not have a shelter for the public to come and meet our adoptable dogs. All Safe Hounds Beagles are cared for in loving foster homes. Prospective adopters MUST submit an adoption application prior to meeting our dogs. Please email us to learn more about adopting a Beagle friend and to request an adoption application.

If you are unable to adopt a Beagle at this time, please consider helping us so that we may continue to help them by making a donation to our Rescue. All donations directly benefit the Beagles in our care.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

April, a Blairstown Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Blairstown, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Blairstown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Blairstown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Blairstown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Blairstown paves the way for another one to be saved.
