Toby's Story...
Toby is a very very handsome young chocolate lab/chessie boy. He has a gorgeous shiny longer chocolate coat and is on the shorter stockier side weighing about 50lbs. Toby is about 1 to 2 years of age and is an extremely sweet dog. At first, he was not getting along with a few dogs at the shelter and it was undecided what to do with him. We decided to accept him regardless and he is getting along famously with everyone and he is a delightful young foster boy. Toby has been socialized with men, women and older children and can be cat tested in necessary. He is house trained, crate trained and is a medium energy boy. He would be a good dog to go hiking, swimming, walks around the neighborhood and would love to have a dog bed with his name on it. He is a special boy as the shelter was close to euthanizing him, but thanks to the dedicated volunteers at that shelter, he is safe and on his way to a very bright future. Toby is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and is heartworm negative. He is micro-chipped and kept on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. If you are interested in making Toby part of your family, please fill out an online application and request him on the notes section.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Toby, a Salem Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Salem, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
